Treatment

Research indicates that individuals with autism respond well to highly structured specialized education programs.  Teaching must be tailored to specific needs of the individual and delivered in a consistent, comprehensive, and coordinated manner.  Programs using well researched methods are known to be effective in helping children, and adults learn new skills and reach their full potential.

Such programs are known as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).  Other treatment modalities may include  diet changes; language therapy; sensory motor interventions; medication; auditory integration; facilitated communication; occupational and/or physical therapy.  Research has shown that early intervention programs are crucial for achieving higher levels of functioning.

Please consult your pediatrician to develop an appropriate treatment plan.
