View what the Village of Pelham Manor is doing for the Mayor's and Supervisor's Challenge regarding health and fitness:

• The Safe Routes to School Program began at Prospect Hill Elementary School spearheaded by parents and supported by the School District, especially Principal Dr. Limato and Village of Pelham Manor Trustee Christine Emerson.

• Grades K-3 at Prospect Hill Elementary School especially participated in the Safe Routes program; and, older children were given pedometers in addition to activity charts for tracking their progress.

• Siwanoy Elementary School parents are also working on a Safe Routes Program focusing on bicycle safety. In addition, Town Constable is working with one of the parents to promote safe routes for Middle and High School students as well.

• Coordination, cooperation and hard work helped to make this a successful program; and, plans are already under discussion for repeating and expanding the Program during the upcoming school year.
